The U.S. Census Bureau released a report on October 16 detailing who uses smartphone and other mobile technology.

Among the findings:
  • The use of mobile technology is growing
  • Usage is growing faster in urban areas than rural areas
  • 72% of older Americans (seniors 65+) use mobile devices
  • The number of Web searches and app downloads are increasing
  • People with college degrees and higher income are more likely to use mobile technology
  • There is strong growth in the number of people with lower incomes (less than $25,000 a year) using mobile technology
What does it mean to you? It means that if you need to reach people through websites that are compatible with mobile devices and you need to reach them on social media, too.
